Description
With a rubber base, Girl Overlooking Ruined City is printed on a desk mat.
The scene shows a woman with flowing red hair, a dark bodice, white skirt and boots, on a moss-covered ledge of warm sandstone. Beyond her, tall towers and crumbling architecture fade into soft light under a cloudy sky, with misty teal and pale white tones running through the whole scene. The mood stays quiet and a little wistful, with the figure turned away from us.
A studio desk suits this piece because it is seen every working hour. The soft green and crimson stand out well beside a keyboard, and the open skyline gives a quiet break from screens. Bedroom desks also work, where the piece is a steady sight at the start of each day.
