Description

The poster edition of Woman on Dim Stairs has three paper finishes.

The scene shows a woman in a flowing dress sitting on steps in shadow, an open book in her hands. Light from a high window crosses gray stone. The oil-painting look keeps the palette to charcoal black, slate gray, muted blue-gray and dusky amber, with the figure near the center and dark edges framing her face.

A living room suits this piece, especially a spot that faces the seating. A bedroom or reading nook also fits, since the subdued palette and quiet figure suit a space kept for rest. Hang it where its charcoal and slate tones can be seen from across the space, giving a bare wall one clear subject.
